About Me

I’m based in Cornwall UK, and showcasing how incredible underwater life is, and peoples’ connections to it, is my main passion in wildlife and underwater photography.

I am also an experienced writer for broad audiences, including authoring three popular science books (one to accompany a David Attenborough BBC TV series), alongside smaller articles.

My work has been used by various organisations and appeared in a range of publications, including BBC Wildlife, BBC Countryfile, Cornwall Wildlife Trust, MCS, Blue Marine Foundation, cosmetics companies, and others and I have won various awards for photography.

I have given invited talks at venues such as the Royal Institution, Royal Geographical Society, and Hay Festival, and worked with organisations such as the Natural History Museum London and California Academy of Sciences.

Photography set up

I use a variety of set ups and am often playing around with various kit.

Since 2020 I’ve been using Olympus / OM System - first an OMD EM-5 Mark III, and now an OM1 Mark II and an OM5. For lenses, I use an OM 90mm and Olympus 60 mm for macro, and 7-14 mm Pro and 8 mm fisheye lenses for wide angle, plus an Olympus 25mm f1.2 Pro lens. For macro I sometimes add a Nauticam CMC-1 macro converter too.

I love to take photos in a variety of ways, from freediving and snorkelling, scuba diving, to sitting in rock pools.

On land: OM1 Mark II, Olympus 40-150 f2.8 Pro, OM 90 mm and 60 mm lenses for macro, an Olympus 7-14 mm Pro lens for wide angle, and an Olympus 25mm f1.2 Pro lens.
